I am passionate about capturing the beauty and essence of every image I produce. I am gaining experience and skills in the types of photography I seek to capture and share; animals, the natural world and astrophotography.
I believe that photography is an art form, I strive to create images that are not only beautiful but also unique and thought-provoking.
For astrophotography, I have been building my current rig for about 18 months now. I am currently using the following equipment:
Camera: ZWO ASI533MC-Pro - a cooled astrophotography camera
Optics: William Optics Redcat 51 - 250mm refractor to capture wide-field views of nebula and galaxies. Optolong L-Enhance dual-band pass filter (also reduces light pollution). UV/IR Cut filter.
Tracking: Sky Watcher Star Adventurer GTi - a portable star tracker with "GoTo" functionality.
Guiding: ZWO 30mm F4 guide telescope and 120MM mini guide camera - guiding works with the tracking mount to keep the tracking smooth and stable allowing longer exposure times.
Computer: ZWO ASIAIR Plus - the heart of the rig which controls the camera, the mount, guiding system as well as running the imaging parameters and plans and storing the files for transfer to the laptop.
For image processing I am currently using a program called Sirl v1.2.4. This program combines all the data and has tools to process the data to produce the final image. I will use Adobe Photoshop and/or Lightroom to polish off images if needed.
For terrestrial photography, I use relatively modest photography equipment. I do not use anything which I would consider "high-end"
Camera: Nikon D7500 DSLR
Lenses: Tamron 70-300 F/4.5-5.6 AF telephoto lens, Tokina 11-16mm F/2.8 ATXi wide-angle lens, Yongnuo 50mm F/1.8 prime lens and the stock Nikon 18-55mm kit lens, which doesn't get much use these days.
I have a modest array of tripods, but I tend to use the Nikon hand-held. I don't have any filters that I routinely use for my terrestrial photography.
I also have a GoPro Hero 11 for recording timelapses and regular video as well as using my smartphone to create reels and the like.
I again use Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom to process my images.
