I am an amateur photographer with an interest wildlife, the natural world and astrophotography. Thank you for visiting my website, feel free to browse the galleries pages and the blog section to see what I've been working on.
It isn't all about astrophotography on this website. I have perhaps neglected adding animal images, mainly because there is a lot to work through but today, I at least have made a start! Today's upload is from BirdWorld. I'll be adding a blog post which will supplement this upload.
To the left is the Veil Nebula, the ionised gas of a supernova event some 10-20,000 years ago. Also uploaded a new capture of the California Nebula. I previously imaged this with my DSLR but now I have data from the astro camera. Check them out via the button below!
A wide field look at the North America and Pelican nebulae in the constellation of Cygnus. Part of a huge cloud complex in that constellation.
An updated edit of the Flaming Star nebula in the bottom left and the Tadpoles nebula upper right. Although they look like they sit side by side, there is some 11,000 light years between them, the Flaming star being 1500 ly away and Tadpoles 12500 ly away.
Situated 2400 light years from Earth in the constellation of Cepheus, this nebula gets its informal name from the trunk like tendril rising from the bottom of the nebula.
Situated around 11000 light years away, the Lobster Claw Nebula can be found near the borders of Cassiopeia and Cehpeus. Towards the top right of the image is the Bubble Nebula, which I'll be imaging separately soon
Astrophotography opportunities have been scarce of late and there are dwindling opportunities for nebula photography at this time of year but one nebula is becoming more visible, the North America Nebula is the constellation of Cygnus. Neary 6 hours of material in this picture.
Our view of the sunsets on La Palma in the Canary Islands was from about 3000 feet above sea level, giving us a unique view of clouds below and above us, which gave rise to some stunning vistas.
One of the most iconic deep space sights is the flame and horsehead nebula which can be found surrounding the eastern most star, Alnitak, of Orion's belt. These are part of the giant Orion molecular cloud complex which includes the equally as famous Orion nebula. These sit around 1500 light years away from Earth.
Re-edit of the Rosette Nebula using the "Hubble palette" of extracting Ha (hydroogen alpha) and OIII (oxygen3) to create a different colour from the usual red colour emitted by many emission nebula.
Updated Heart Nebula image with a new image of the California Nebula and the Andromeda Galaxy, see them all along with other astro images in the gallery section.
A journey back in time for today's gallery. My first serious go at photography with a DSLR at Lyngenfjord, Norway. An unforgettable experience and I'll be writing a longer blog post to tell the tale.
Located 7500 light-years away in the constellation Cassiopeia. Four and a half hours of exposure time went into creating this image. Other points to note within the nebulae is the small cluster of stars in the middle whose radiation has spread the gas out into the shape we see
Best pics from a fabulous weekend staying at the Giraffe Lodge, Port Lympne
Wildlife pics from our recent trip to the Isle of Mull and Isle of Ulva
Jenn and I love going to the Hawk Conservancy in Andover. The Flying displays are amazing and we love the birds of prey on show there. Please check the gallery for the best images of the day.
Feel free to drop me a message or email if you enjoy my images.
